Re: Quitting smoking - AGAIN

I just pitched my pack of cigarettes yesterday. I quit years ago, but had
several major stresses recently and started smoking again. "Just one
cigarette a day" was becoming two and sometimes three, so I decided I'd
better nip it in the bud right now. Luckily I put other garbage in the can
on top of them, or I might have been tempted to fish them out again!

What I like best about smoking is that it's about the only time I sit down,
do nothing else, and clear my mind. I'm going to do jigsaw puzzles instead,
because I can achieve the same zen feeling in about five minutes.

Good luck!! I think they say the average person takes multiple times to
quit permanently. I never smoked, but based on personal experience by
people close to me, it truly is a chemical addiction and only
non-smokers will tell you that it's easy.

At least you'll have a reason to be a bitch. The rest of us won't have
any excuses <G>.

I guarantee I'll be a bitch, so start some fun topic 'round then and

I think there may be two kinds of addiction - at least to cigarettes.
I smoked 2 packs a day for some years, but I do believe I was addicted
to the habit. I wasn't pleasant quitting, but part of it was just being
pissed off that I had to. I don't really recall any physical symptoms. I
quit in late 80s, and after first six months, I have smoked "a"
cigarette here and there - and I'm not even concerned about starting
again. I love the smell of a cigarette being lit, but I don't crave
them constantly as I've heard some do even after years of not smoking.

Part of it was the ritual. Tap the pack to get it out, the holding,
flicking lighter or striking match, lighting and that first puff.
