I have heard from several CS grads, and they rave about the quality of
the course and how well it prepared them for real life as an MT. I
also keep in touch with MTs locally, am involved in my state and local
chapters of AHDI. I have also shown the info on the class to my father-
in-law, who just happens to be a doctor. Everyone that I shared info
with prior to my selecting the course, and afterward, had nothing but
positive things to say.

Well, no offense, but doctors don't know the first thing about
transcription. It's not their job to keep up with it and the course
necessities to be able to work at home and produce top quality work.

I have even heard from employers who have said that they wish that all
courses prepared MTs for the workplace as well as CS does. Why else
would so many companies hire CS grads right out of school??? And none
of those grads have 2 years of experience. That "2 years of
experience" requirement for companies to hire an MT for an at-home
position almost kept me from even taking the class. But when I kept
reading all of the good things about CS and how many of their
graduates are hired right out of school for home-based positions, I
changed my mind and looked further into the course.

As an MTSO I have never hired a CS student or graduate. I've had a few
test and not be up to my standard of accuracy and had some fail
miserably. I've had one or two I gave a shot and the work was terrible.
What they lacked in the course was painfully obvious. I would take into
consideration where you read the good things about CS. The CS forum is
so biased and only good things are allowed. That is common knowledge.
They ban the people who have taken the course, realized what it lacked
and have gone on to be good MTs despite the course/school.

I understand how people from other schools may look down upon other
curriculum as not being up to par. I also know that CS has upgraded
its curriculum in the last year and a half or so - they have most
recently added more current transcription files.

I am not from any other school except the school of hard knocks and self
study. I am speaking as someone who tests and hires MTs and runs an MT
company. I have no stake in the course and no school alma mater bias
whatsoever.
