Bam, I'm sorry to hear about all of this :(
What tests other than I'm sure brain MRIs have they done? Have you had the
VEPs, LPs and the rest of the neurological crap? I went five years, from
doc to doc to doc, and finally have what the first guy said - Benign MS - if
there is such a thing. This means that other than my first couple of flairs
in 2003 and 2004, I've not had anything noticeable or disruptive. I have a
lot of residuals from the first couple, but nothing I've not been able to
deal with. I meet all of the criteria for MS except for the O-bands which
keep coming up negative (had the last LP two years ago and refuse to have
another unless i have a major flair again). My MRIs show minimal changes
and I'm finally down to once a year rather than quarterly and then twice
yearly scans.
He's right though about urological problems. That is one of my issues -
that and fatigue and sometimes word finding. I can tell when I'm getting
over fatigued because I tend to stumble a bit, but nothing more than just
ordinary clumsiness so I deal with it. The double edged sword is the stress
issue ;) as I'm sure you are finding out. Dealing with this crap, my
husband's ongoing disability, changing jobs and school (sounds familiar
huh?) is all stressful LOL, but I"ve been learning to adapt and just say who
gives a crap about so many things that would have sent me right over the
edge just a few years ago.
I'm really sorry you are having to go through all of this - that whole LIMBO
period where you dont know if it is MS or what in craps name it is, is
rough, but keep plugging away from doc to doc until you finally get one to
listen to you and your complaints.
Good luck!!

Judity, you'll be able to keep track of this right? It's going to make a
great medical thriller.... :)
Well, you must love the medical profession... not.
The urologist thinks I do, indeed, surely have MS. He says the problems
I'm having urologically are very indicative of MS... here one day, not the
next, no other explanation. He said MS wreaks havoc with the bladder....
oh goodie, at least it'll be exciting, right?
(He said to me that he's very impressed with my attitude and outlook and I
told him once the sense of humor leaves, I'm done, there will not be
enough strength to come back, so I have no choice but to smile, grin, bear
it, and say WTF!)
He gave me some meds to hopefully handle the immediate issues, another
infection, etc. Told me he would definitely take my films and go to
another neurologist because I now have one that says yes, one that says he
doesn't think so, and the third whilst still not necessarily any more
right than either of the first two, would at least give me that much more
information.
Tonight I have a fever, my kidney hurts, I want to cry. I want to just lay
in the bed and say - OK, GOD... you win. For 12 years, I've fought to get
my world right and for 12 f*ing years you've been throwing road block
after road block and frankly, I'm just tired of dodging the road
blocks......
Fear not.... it's just a momentary pity party and about as much anger as I
do..... but damn, give a sister a break, will ya?
.
