Of course it's wrong; it's absurd. There is no other job in the world
where you get docked for errors. I have told her these pt schedules
are difficult to read, and she said she doesn't have a problem with
them, so we should not either.
Maybe she doesn't have a problem because she's seeing the original and
not a copy of a copy. By the time you see it it's no longer close to
the original.
The office is constantly asking me to
resend files (a file is 5 reports) that they have misplaced (they will
not admit to having misplaced them), so maybe I will start charging
them $5 per re-sent file.
I did this with a client who was continually losing reports, and it was
amazing how quickly they stopped losing the reports. It was only on the
order of 50 per report/chart note, but some of the lost files were 30
chart notes long, and every penny counts for some.

My boss swears they are looking at the same pt schedules we receive,
by fax. You know how broken up things get on a fax, and when you are
talking typeface 6 font, there is not a lot of room for error! And you
know these days, we are not talking about patient names of "Tom" or
"Mary." You have "Caitlyn," Caiytelin," "Devon," "Deven," "Devan,"
etc.
I asked my boss why I had to keep resending files, and she said it is
not something they ask for on a whim. However, I was once offline for
about a week (phone lines were down in my town due to severe ice
storm), and wouldn't you know, when they really, really had to search
for the files on their end (since I was down and could not resend
them), they found them all.- Hide quoted text -

Well, then if that is the case (unreadable quality on the copy you
receive), then put in a blank to indicate that you cannot in fact read
it. It is thereby not technically an error. LOL.
To be more serious, it doesn't matter if she can see it. It doesn't
matter if she sent both you and I the same schedule and I could see
and you couldn't. Just because I can see a certain font clearly,
doesn't mean everyone can. Some people who wear glasses can't read
anything smaller than a size 11.5.
When things get faxed twice, it can get very ugly, much uglier than
how that person who received the first copy sees it. If the schedules
were clear, I wouldn't see the extra push for accuracy as an issue,
but I know very well that even a fresh-off-of-a-dot-printer schedule
can be a nightmare, especially when they are permitted to run
repeatedly on low ink. Dot printers are still used frequently for
patient schedules for some reason versus a laser printer.
If she values your service other than the patient name and numbers
problem, then she should work with you, and if I were confident that
the rest of my product were up to snuff, I wouldn't hesitate to tell
her that I take issue with her new "ruling."
As an aside, sometimes clients can contact their software tech support
for the scheduling program and find a very easy way to capture the
entire schedule and e-mail it instead. My schedules originate in Mysis
and they are sent to me now in a .txt format that I can open with
either WordPad or Excel.
