I get the shots, started them when my mother lived with me ill with
leukemia. I have had pneumonia 3 times when I was in my late 30s. I had
pneumonia after the flu once in the early winter of 1978. Had pleurisy with
it, very painful, and was sick for about an additional two weeks. Had
pneumonia again in 1986, was hospitalized for 6 days that time. Since then,
I have not had the flu or pneumonia again. But I still get the shot. If
anything, it can make the flu a little less symtomatic if you happen to get
it anyway.

I'm 56 and have never had a flu or pneumonia shot. I have only had the
flu once in my entire life about 10 years ago and never had pneumonia.
My PCP is trying to talk me into getting these shots this year. How
many of you get the shots. Pros and cons?
Thanks
Barbara
