Gisele asked this on the insurance thread.
I want to share a chuckle.
I really enjoy Keith Olbermann. I really despise our current
administration. (And when do those of us who said this was going to be a
really BAAAAAAAAAAAAD administration get to gloat????)
Anyhoo.... last night I was watching Keith while I was crocheting for
the soon-to-arrive grandkid. As I listened to him I sat there getting
irate.... reminding myself of my dad who used to scream at the TV. He
was talking about how rather than do as the country has indicated they
want and get our troops out of Iraq, this administration was sending in
more. That this president was ignoring all the advice, all the
indicators, all the feedback and steaming full speed ahead with his own
agenda as he's done since day one (afterall he even figured out how to
get INTO Iraq!).
So while I'm listening and ranting and raving I made the decision that I
was taking off work this week. That I was going to see how fast I could
get a ground swell of support and I'd do the Million Pissed Off American
march on Washington, DC.....
Then I looked up at the screen.... and saw they were replaying a show
from January 2007.
And felt a little foolish.
For about 5 minutes.
Then I asked myself-- WHY ARE WE PUTTING UP WITH THIS?
As Americans do we REALLY have so little control? Obviously voting
didn't make a difference.
How do we REALLY bring about change?????
Whose change?
ed:)
Ed, can you honestly tell me that the current governmental process,
decisions, etc (and I only mean current by what we're dealing with in this
millenium, not necessary the Bush-WHACKED regime) are okay with you? If
so, good. Guess you don't need change. Keep bein' happy.
No, I'm not OK with everything, especially our continued involvement in
Iraq, but my point was that your agenda for change is probably not the same
as mine, nor should I expect mine to be what everyone desires.
