Not a clue about the mad hatter.
You want to talk about a mercury source...when I worked as a lab tech, our
old Coulter counter died, and when we moved it to replace it, that sucker
had mercury puddled in the bottom of it. I don't remember how I scooped it
up, but I ended up with half a baby food jar of mercury that I kept around
the lab to amuse myself with when things were slow. (Yes, I left it in the
jar, but it was still fun!)

I wonder what the big deal is with mercury? When I was a kid, we used
to break thermometers and play with the mercury ball. It would roll
around in our hands and make funny shapes. Little sucker was pretty
heavy, though.
So that's why you're "different", Neal.

I did the same thing. We had a couple of those old mercury blood pressure
manometers at home and I emptied all the mercury into a little bottle. I
would take it out of the bottle and play with it.
On a related tangent, anyone here know where the term "mad hatter" came
from? (without googling) :)
