It is indeed sad, but the reality is, religion (especially when talking
about president wannabes) will always be a big factor in this largely
Christian country. If Obama were a muslim, and even if he has great
potential, I'd probably not vote for him. Yeah, I'd be part of the sad
commentary.

I'm not sure that Senator Obama's lack of foreign policy background is
bad since there are always people around the President to inform and
guide. Senator McCain may have a background in this area, but do you
agree with everything he has done or says he will do?

I do not agree with everything he has done or said he will do. We know
that most politicians will say anything to get elected. At least with
McCain, he has a long political record which can be scrutinized and
should indicate where he wants to take this nation. Obama is pretty much
a blank slate because he hardly has any congressional record to talk
about.

My more immediate concern, the same as most people living on a fixed
income, is how our new President would handle the economy.

If the economy is your immediate concern, then Clinton should have been
your gal. Bill and Hillary presided over the *best* economy in modern
times, called the "goldilocks" economy which was not too hot and not to
cold, but just perfect. The budget was balanced, *no* budget deficits.
The dollar was strong, business was booming, home equity way up, and we
were enjoying the best of times all around. In spite of Bill and
Hillary's shortcomings, the fact remains we had it real good back then.

I love our country and think we deserve better than the choices we are
being offered this year. Oh wait! Ron Paul is still on the ticket,
isn't he?

He is similar to Ross Perot in the sense that he is not electable.
Nevertheless, he is a good man.
