I'm sure these days they do more testing to determine what sex the child
truly is, and of course plastic surgery is far more advanced than years
ago. I'm not sure at what point in time the actual chromosomal analysis
determining XX and XY was possible - but I imagine quite some time. Of
course, the children that had this done and had documentaries made as
adults had their surgery decades ago. There is no doubt they meant well
and wanted to save the child from being different.
