And, Judity, re the gas cards with rebates. You just have to be careful
they don't cap the rebate amount. Some do. The ExxonMobile Visa does not
cap it and the rebate is applied to your balance monthly. You get 3%
back on gas or anything purchased at an ExxonMobil station (we get the
3% if we buy pizza or milk at that convenience store/gas station). It's
1% on everything else. In the case of Amazon, you get the rebate as
points; in this case you get it as cash back on your account.
The best I saw was the American Express Cash Blue card, which is 5%
back on grocery stores, gas stations, and drug stores, then 1.5% on
everything else. It's a no-fee card. Only problem is, a lot of places do
not take AMX - they have higher fees apparently, so one would want to
find out if their local merchants accepted that card.
