Re: OT - What do you think of Senator McCain's latest tactic?

My husband was with a group of his friends today--mostly strong Republicans.
They were saying they would not vote for Obama. Bob said one of them said,
no way for McCain. I'm going with the smart one.

Obama is too liberal, and I don't like his stand on immigrants, but Congress
is not going to let him push all his agenda too far. Bob (husband) was told
McCain was 5th from the bottom of his class. If that is true, that was when
he was young. In my opinion he is too old and he is just not "with it".
I'm reasonably impressed with Obama. I think he's sharp, and will be good
to improve this country's image which certainly is not good. I'm not sure
who would best represent the Constitution--it's been damaged by both parties
in the past.

There was no way he was going to not be criticized by the McCain camp,
IMO. First he wasn't well enough versed to make decisions concerning Iraq
and Afghanistan because he hadn't been there recently, and now it's just
"political." (Of course, McCain's trip there after securing the
Republican nomination couldn't POSSIBLY have been political, nor was his
trip to Colombia, I guess.) Mostly, they're ticked because Barack is
receiving so much media attention and was so enthusiastically received by
the public over there. Frankly, McCain's people should be GLAD to have
the spotlight taken off him; lately it seems like every time he opens his
mouth, his foot is just itching to get in there! That has got to be hard
on his shoes, don't you think? Personally, I'm looking forward to having
a president who will stop the wholesale assault on the Constitution and
Bill of Rights and help us regain our place in the world, with allies
rather than uneasy acquaintances, instead of skulking in a corner and
saying, "My way or the highway! You're either with us or against us!"
(insert nasal villain's voice with evil laugh where appropriate) I just
pray we elect Obama!

I just heard on the news that while Senator Obama was visiting
Germany, Senator McCain went around the country visiting all the
places in the USA named Berlin, such as in NH. Now with one Senator
in France, the other is stumping at towns called Paris here.

When Senator Obama visits England as the final step of his trip, which
towns will Senator McCain campaign in? I mean, our county is LOADED
with English namesakes. Taking only one example, Springfield, he may
still be visiting all the states containing a Springfield through
November.

I'm sorry, but this seems just plain silly on his part, even a bit
petty or subtly whining. After all, Senator McCain did challenge
Senator Obama to go abroad to get a better idea of foreign lands,
didn't he?
