I still do not question basic Republican beliefs, I just think the current
party has forgotten them. If true Republicanism were to surface I would be
right back with the party. Recent so-called Republicans have been spend,
spend, spend and more government control. The last balanced budget we had
was with Democrats. Today's Republicans are pro Big Business, and held
hostage by the radical religious right.

((That's not possible. My car's fog lights will only come on with the
headlights on. ))
Bob, maybe your car is trying to tell you something. (smiling)
((as a lifelong
Republican until very recent years--well I did vote for the
Libertarian
Party several years before getting up the courage to vote Democratic
for
Gore. I still hope my father is not spinning in his grave))
Barb, the same thought came to me the other day. My father was a
lifelong, New England, frugal Republican, and I followed his political
lead for decades. Only when Ross Perot came on the scene did I
question the Republican beliefs.
I still don't agree with all of either the Republican or Democrat
ideas. This year, though, I'm ignoring the party and voting for the
man, Senator Obama, I think will make a better, more thoughtful
President.
To continue the automobile thread, the other day, I heard a great
definition of McCain: A Model T with a crank engine!
