get as much publicity and advertising as when they give to the athletics
departments.

Doesn't make it right, but it's the people who pay to see the games who
cause it.

I know that Phil Knight (Nike) most likely donated each and every
uniform and helmet and shoe, but this extravagance in a time when most
people are reducing, reusing, and recycling is so disgusting to me.
Just how many uniforms does a team need to play a season of football?
I think the UofO would do a lot towards public relations if they would
kindly ask Phil to make a donation to the scholarship fund instead of
giving new uniforms.

The next time I get a call from a person at the UofO asking for money
they might get an earful. The money that goes towards collegiate
athletics is just mind-boggling to me. The UofO is now in the midst of
building a multi-million (trillion?) dollar basketball pavilion that
it doesn't need. Of course, with many million in help from Phil
Knight.

I'm probably just being a grump tonight.

Kathy, the grump

Well ------ you know how WE feel about the ducks up here!! Those
yellow outfits SUCK! They look so stupid. I think Phil Knight is a
gross looking creep and so is Ballotti. Speaking of the pavilion. Did
you see their state of the art football locker room when they made
that over? Good Lord, that cost a fortune and was really "state of the
art" with very fancy stuff. Way out of line for college ball in my
book.

Sue,
I will admit to taking your feedback with a grain of salt - you being
a Dawg and all. :)

I think Mike Bellotti (you have to learn to spell it right if you're
going to knock him) is one of the most handsome nearly 60-year-old men
I have ever seen. Matter of fact, when I told my sisters that I would
never even date, much less have a relationship with a man, they asked
me if I would reconsider if it was Mike Bellotti. haha.

But I absolutely agree that the money spent is outrageous, and well
beyond what is needed to have a good football program.

They probably do make money, especially if they go to a bowl game, but
I still think they could do with ONE OR TWO uniforms per year and
still play football just fine. I know all the reasons to have a good
football team. My brother played for OSU on full scholarship in the
60s. It's just something that irks me (the money spent on athletics).
