Judity, a Tracfone costs more than a Net10 phone, so if those are
available in your area, check them out. You can buy as little as 200
minutes; the minutes are always 10 cents, and they don't charge you
double minutes if you use them outside your primary area like many
phones do. You do have to buy minutes at certain intervals to keep
them active, but the minutes themselves don't expire, and the interval
is fairly long.
I don't use over 300 minutes a month, and most monthly plans are more
than $30.00, so I've had my Net10 phone for years, and it works
great. When I visited my mother in Florida a few years ago it worked
fine and cost no extra.
You can check them out at www.net10.com; most stores around here carry
them. I found them to be the cheapest per-minute phones when I
investigated them.

Sandi,
I looked at their web site. Does it mean that 200 minutes is only good for 30 days and then you have to refill again? If so, that wouldn't be a good buy for her if she doesn't use it much, even if minutes do roll over. I only have to add $10.00 (80 min.) every four months.
