I don't know about you, Bob, but I'm hoping this year proves to be the

Well, no one in this city has air conditioners or fans. What is so
funny is when you call and get the usual recordings, the first thing
they now say is, We are out of air conditioners and fans. Costco in
Puyallup a city about 10 miles from here will have them in the a.m.
Our Costco (I thought) was getting them this p.m. But no, they had
them this a.m. 20 air conditioners and 200 people waiting for them. I
said, trust me I can body slam with the best of them for an air
conditioner. So as a business member I get in early so I will rise and
shine and be in line bright and early tomorrow as we hit triple digits
tomorrow. I told DH I will call him from the hospital and let him know
which one I got. He said, or jail! :) He said, did they say how much
they were? I said, no I will put it in the cart, call you and read you
the stats and see if we want. If not, I'll put it back. Truly, the
heat is that bad. The funny story on the news this morning, was that
everyone is going to work around here, many are going an hour early
and working over time because their jobs have air conditioning. What a
crack up! Trust me that is how rare this weather is and how bad it is
getting!

I live here because I don't like this stuff!!!

SW Oregon is sweltering too. Per our news report Tuesday evening some
areas in the Rogue Valley were reporting temperatures of 112 and 115
(Central Point and Sams Valley). In Cave Junction and Grants Pass
(our neck of the woods) it was 107. Wednesday is supposed to be
higher still. They are predicting upper 90s through 100s through next
week.

The Jackson County Fair did not get nearly the crowds they had hoped
for, combination of high temperatures and bad economy. Poor
animals ... they had put up fans and misters for the exhibition
animals.

I am SOOO glad I work graveyard shift and not days. We also do not
have AC (off grid on battery bank/generator system). However, being up
in the mountain forest it has been about 10 degrees cooler here, but
88 in the shade is not really cool, in my mind. At least we do not
have the humidity to make it worse. Yes, I too remember those upper
mid-West summers (NE Ohio). The nicely cool evenings help a lot
(60s).

Our fire danger has gone to Extreme with severe restrictions. We are
praying. I have been formulating our evacuation plan, just in case.
