|I have had a major loss of feeling in my left arm and hand ever since my
| knee replacement of 11/5/2005. The ortho doc said it was due to the
| position the anesthesiologist put the arms during the surgery. Doesn't
make
| sense to me, but that is what he told me. Said it was somewhat like a
| crucified position.
|
| Anyhow, last night I started having terrific itching in my left hand
| fingers. I didn't know what was going on. Finally took a Benadryl and
got
| to sleep. This morning I started having tingling, pins and needles
| sensation, and intense, short-term pains in the hand. It progressed
rapidly
| to the sensation improving dramatically, and being able to feel things I
| haven't felt for years! Right now typing is very strange, as I haven't
felt
| the keys with my left hand for so long.
|
| I "blame" the Herman Miller Aeron chair for this! I think I posted before
| that the pain I have had so long in my neck is gone and my low back pain
has
| improved, too. My old chair wobbled and leaned to the side, but I was in
it
| so much, I really didn't notice it, just compensated for it, I guess. The
| Aeron chair gives me no choice but to sit straight. My neck has popped
| loudly several times when I twist it, and I think some nerve or nerves
that
| were pinched got free, or something.
|
| Anyhow, it is strange and weird, but really wonderful...

I'm really glad for you, Neal! I don't know anything about the Aeron chairs
except that I've secretly lusted for one for a long time, ever since reading
so many of the posts about them here. Being very familiar with hand
numbness myself, I'm really happy for you!
Anne
Anne,
I found this one on Craigslist and bought it for $400. It sells for $879 new. The man I bought it from used it for five years, but it looks new. I saw one on Craigslist a few days ago for $165. I don't know exactly what it was, as it was already sold when I called.
PS The uncomfortable feelings are now gone from my hand. The back of the hand feels like it has just had a hard scrubbing. The skin there and on the fingertips is very, very sensitive, but not now uncomfortable.
