Re: Anyone know what these items are?

My laptop is older and has only 2 usb ports. When I travel I need to plug
in my foot pedal, my keyboard (I cannot use a laptop keyboard with any
efficiency) and my modem, so I have a nice little 4-port hub that plugs in
to one of the 2 usb ports, and gives me what I need.

If anyone is considering setting up to work away from the office, beware.
My modem just didn't connect anywhere on my last trip. I did get the to
connect twice, but kept losing the connection. It was virtually worthless.
I wound up having to pay for connectivity at the hotel, or go hunt for a
coffee shop somewhere, for which I did not have the time. I returned the
modem to Verizon (who is supposed to have the best area connection). It
sounded great to be able to work anywhere, but it sure hasn't been perfected
yet. It would not even connect at the Reno or Phoenix airports, which
Verizon says it will connect at ANY airport. Since I was able to connect 3
times over a 3-week period, means I did know how to use it, but even on
those connections I kept losing the signal.

Fortunately they had offered a 30-day return, and I took advantage of it.
However, they are trying to make me pay for the month and I am battling with
them over that. Since I could not get a reliable connection at any time I
don't feel obligated to pay.

I would be interested to know anyone else's experience with the laptop
modems, either Verizon or ATT.

((I'll see if I can find the info, but if not Google will bring you
lots of
choices. Mine is not wireless, but plugs into a usb port. ))

I understand my new Dell is coming with 4 USB ports, one more than
this laptop has. Recently I bought a USB hub with four ports where I
permanently keep my three flash drives. The only problem is that the
cord between the hub and the laptop is rather short. It's a great
item, though, for someone who needs more USB ports than a laptop
sometimes has.

If the wireless mouse gives me trouble, Barb, I definitely will Google
on the touch pad. Thanks for the information.
