Question on "stomach flu"

Last Sunday, I had a period of vomiting. Since then, I have had a fever,
chills, and loose bowels. I went to see my doctor and he said a virus (it
has been epidemic here for some reason). I have an appetite, but after I
eat my stomach, particularly in my intestinal area, gets a not in in. No
pain anywhere (I had cramps at first but they are gone), just a knot. How
long does this type of thing last? I'm getting hot flashes, and still
have loose stools. Crimany, it's almost been a week!
