5 months ago I was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive soft tissue
sarcoma. The cure for it is the P6 protocol which includes 3 rounds
of vin cristie, doxarubisin, and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy, 3
rounds of ifosamide, eitopaside, and a "super" chemo that is 20 times
the allowable dose for humans. Stem cells were harvested from my bone
marrow that will be reinjected into my body to make new bone marrow
after the super chemo takes place. The bone marrow toxicity from the
super chemo would be too high if not for this stem cell treatment. IT
SAVES LIVES. But not enough is known about stem cells. The doctors
know that they can reinsert them through my central line into my
aeorta and they'll become bone marrow, but they don't know why. They
also don't know how to look at a stem cell and determine if it will
work well. Stem cell research must be practiced worldwide and highly
funded so that we can understand how they work and learn the wide
range of diseases we can cure by using these miracle cells.
