Death is the endpoint for many diseases rather than the cure.

There is a difference.

For example:

Type 2 (insulin resistant) diabetes can be "cured" in some folks by
lasting weight loss.

If the diabetes is neither "cured" nor well controlled, it will likely
progress ending in premature death from a cardiovascular complication
such as a heart attack or stroke. We would not call this premature
death a "cure."
