My best guess (and it is a guess, since I have not examined you nor
have I seen the films) is that you have a significant left-sided disc
herniation. The "measurements" are much less important than the
neurological signs (gotten only by a hands-on examination).
Nonsurgical treatment involves strict bed rest for several days
followed by some sort of back bracing (there are special braces for
this) for 3+ months. If the symptoms resolve, you have dodged the
bullet (surgery) this time. If they do not improve with proper
treatment (and it sounds as if your treatment has not been optimal),
then surgery should be considered. If the neurological signs worsen
(weakness of the foot, severe sensory loss, or bladder difficulties),
surgery is indicated sooner rather than later.
You really need to see a specialist in this condition. A neurosurgeon
is best (I am prejudiced) but an orthopaedic surgeon with special
training in spine is also OK. Good luck.
