What rarely is mentioned in the context of volcanos is that their fumes
and dusts often contain fluorides, silicon fluoride, and hydrogen
fluoride. Those compounds, if inhaled, have a lung damaging effect that
in many cases becomes obvious only some time (hours) after exposure.
Since the early 20th century already, so-called lung fibrosis and severe
pneumonias have been reported in fluoride-exposed workers, or in people
who accidentally inhaled fluoride compounds. You can find something
about that in Christopher Bryson´s "Fluoride Deception" book. If you are
interested I can also mail you some references.

My email can be found at the homepage given below (under "imprint").

Best,
Peter
