I can relate to that with my own frustrations of getting the Pickford
Orrorin bones to check for Stonethrowing. How anthropologists
secretively guard their bones and not allowing other people to research
their bones.
So I have come up with the realization that this science in the future
will be propelled to major advances from analysis of DNA only. Where we
can locate the genes of Homo sapiens that are the genes of the Pickford
groove in femur that proves bipedalism.
Likewise we shall find the unique signature of bones that proves
Stonethrowing behavior. Whether the crests of the Rotator Cuff or the
opposable thumb or the crests in the arm bones or the bones of wrist and
fingers that proves innate Throwing both overarm and underarm.
We can find that DNA of throwing or NONthrowing in chimps and orangutans
and other apes and find it in humans.
With the newly arrived Genome Project we can find the DNA that codes for
Throwing and find it in humans but not in gorillas or orangutans. We can
find DNA in chimpanzees that allows them to throw underarm. So then,
this new era of Anthropology science will rely mostly on evidence of DNA
and less on bones actually found. Of course it is always nice to find
the DNA evidence and then find the bones in the field that matches the
DNA evidence as a final proof.
So how much progress has the Genome Project of humanity taken place? Do
we have the Pickford groove mapped out that proves our species is biped?
Do we have the Chimpanzee Genome in full? Can we spot in the Chimpanzee
Genome the A,C,T,G code that codes for underarm throwing? Then match the
underarm throwing of chimps with the underarm throwing of humans? And of
course humans throw both underarm and overarm.
So the DNA is a better tool than ever was fossilized bones. But we can
use both.
