In the good ol USA the unemployed MD's (5%) get zilch, not even
unemployment benefits. See

The problem of unemployment is worse for women MD's. The medical
educators' primary responsibility these days is to arrange
doctor-lawyer marriages so the malpractice lawsuits will come down.
