I don't know the law in the US, but in England, that would legally be
assault, and the midwife would be in one hell of a lot of trouble if you
decided to sue.

I'm so sorry to hear you had such a horrendous birthing experience. I
normally loathe the whole "Something went wrong so I gotta sue
somebody!" culture, but when I read about cases like this, I really
_hope_ that somebody somewhere sues that idiot incompetent bitch of a
midwife so that at least she'll pay for what she's been doing.
