Excessive bleeding and cramps

I am 23 years old. From the age of 11 I am having excessive bleeding
during menstruation. I also have severe cramps. Most of the time the
bleeding is in the form of blood clots. When consulted with a doctor,
he mentioned something about extra fibroids. I have been having this
ever since I was 12 and during this time I am forced to stay at home.
I do not know whether there is a way by which I could reduce this
bleeding or at least reduce the suffering. Sometimes I have it twice a
month.
Thanks in advance. Would greatly appreciate if someone can advise me
on this.
