SITTING AND SCHOOL AGE LOW BACK PAIN...
"[H]igh rates of reports of [low back pain/LBP] provoked by manual work and
sitting imply needs for more research on the persistence of LBP, and on
relevant interventions during school age.

Astrid,
Canadian orthopedic surgeon W. Harry Fahrni, MD suggested that stopping
forced chair-dwelling would prevent low back pain. [Orth Clin N Am 1975]
I'm assuming that Norwegian children are chair-dwellers.
Why not look at forced chair-dwelling - THE GREAT SQUAT ROBBERY^^^ - as an
intervention and simply stop it and see what happens?
^^^The Great Squat Robbery: As a consequence of forced-chair-dwelling,
Western children are robbed of the ability to rest on their feet for
hours - squat flat-footed - in virtually any terrain.

PS On a related note...
Obstetricians are closing birth canals up to 30% and keeping birth canals
closed when babies get stuck - and lying about it...

I call it The Great BIRTH Robbery.
The Great Squat Robbery (see above) was in effect blamed on The Great Birth
Robbery in Gardosi et al.'s 1989 Lancet "randomised controlled trial of
squatting" where nobody squatted.
See Sarah Key's huge balls (also: Kids can SQUAT motionless for hours)...

PREGNANT WOMEN: To allow your birth canal to OPEN the
"extra" up to 30% - just roll onto your side as you push your baby out.
BEWARE THOUGH: Some OBs and CNMwives will let you "try" alternative
delivery positions but will move you to semisitting/dorsal (close your birth
canal up to 30%) for the actual delivery.
ALSO BEWARE: As indicated above, it is standard practice for OBs to KEEP
birth canals closed
when babies get stuck and forceps and vacuums are used to pull on babies'
head. Talk to your OB or CNMwife today.
