        I don't think any purpose is ever served by attempting to
ignore facts in evidence, on either side of the issue. As far as
I can tell, it seems likely that there is a very small decrease
in the risk of penile cancer due to circumcision, perhaps confined
primarily to the subset of those who would otherwise have had
phimosis. That doesn't mean that the risk is larger enough to
warrant routine infant circ, particularly given that one could
wait to see if phimosis is an issue before circ'ing if one even
thought *that* was warranted (which is still a long stretch, as
penile cancer is hardly common even among those who are uncirc'ed
with phimosis). After all, there are many other conditions which
are far more likely which could be avoided by prophylactic surgery
(the most common example being that we could give all young women
mastectomies to dramatically reduce the risk of breast cancer,
which is much more prevalent than penile cancer) and we don't
choose to do that. The problem is not the facts themselves.
The problem is the logic (or lack thereof) applied to the facts.
