Nerve Impingment?

The other day I slightly pull a muscle in my neck when I turned my head
to the left. I could feel it toward the side/rear, near the trapezoid
area, but it wasn't major and I would have forgotten all about it if it
wasn't for the tingling and numbness in my thumb(on the thumb-print
side) that began the next day.

I get a uncomfortable feeling and slight pain on and off throughout the
day at the area of my neck pull, but the tingling and numbness is
always apparent in my thumb.

Any ideas on how major this may be? I am attempting to determine if I
should wait it out or see if it goes away on it's own.
