Numb palm

I cut my wrist about 14 years ago while closing a glass window. I had
to go to surgery and they put 3 stitiches in the cut and I was told I
was lucky as I was 2cm from the Radial artery. I was also asked if all
the glass had been removed which I replied yes though I wasn't sure.
Since I had this accident the part of my hand which is just below the
thumb (thenar muscle group) has always been numb but I am beginning to
feel some pain. The pain isn't constant and it's not excrutiating I'm
wondering if I should see the doctor or is it just something I have to
live with due to damaged muscles? Thanks in advance.
