What happened in the ER?

On 11/27 I crashed while riding my bicycle.
Apparently I don't fall well, three ribs and a collarbone
are fractured, slight concussion and a bit of collapsed
lung. The helmet probably saved me.

In the ambulance and the ER my BP ran about 165/135.
The ER gave me morphine in an IV drip. This brought
my BP down to 128/77 (better than my daily normal
since my 10 mg Altace doesn't get me that low).
52yom.

After about three hours in the ER (at least an hour after
the IV had run out) they have me discharge papers to sign.
As they started unhooking the monitor I felt myself
becoming very much warmer (I was under four light
blankets to relieve my earlier shivering).

I pulled off the blankets but the nurse noticed how I'd
started sweating heavily & went for help. The doc
cancelled the release and ordered the chest and head
CAT scans that he'd passed on before. These found
nothing (the head's empty) that the xray hadn't found.
serum cell counts and creatinine were tested, I never
heard anything about these results.

I didn't see it, but my wife was shown that the monitor
had recorded a BP of 90/25 !?! during the episode.

I had not felt unusually bad considering the circumstance.
Was this a valid reading?
a reaction to morphine? -how unusual is that?
how close did I get to dying?

thanks in advance, Ed
