Hi,
Was curious if anyone had any theories on my condition. Every once in
a while, when I go to the gym and do a very hard work out, I end up
with a bloody stool later that day. I drink a protein shake
immediately after the weight lifting session, though its possible that
I don't drink enough water since I often feel dehydrated. I also have
a bad habit of drinking a lot of diet soda.
drinking diet soda is *not* a bad habit.
I'm not sure if this is a diet (food, fiber, water, etc) problem or if
there could be something more systematic that creates an anal
fissure/bloody stool when I work out and stress my body.
How do you know that it is blood in your stool? Have you had the test that
shows whether it is really blood in your stool? I am thinking that after
your workout, your stool color changes, maybe because you are a bit
dehydrated, which causes your body to remove more water from the stool. In
addition, if your stool gets harder, this might be affecting anal fissures
(which is not the same thing as excercise causing anal fissures).
You shouldn't have blood in your stool at any time, including after workout.
This sounds like something you should bring to the attention of your doctor.
Jeff
Would sincerely appreciate any help.
