Some Florida researchers are one step closer to know why the link
between gum disease and heart disease exists. Researchers at the
University of Florida have identified four genes that are a part of gum
bacteria that has the ability to invade arteries in the heart. During a
recent study, researchers disabled the genes to see if they would still
be able to infect arteries and found they could not. Researchers say
this means these genes play a significant role in how gum bacteria
invades the heart. Check out the video about this subject, this isn't a

The postulated link between cardiovascular disease and periodontal disease has NOTHING to do with periodontal bacteria "invading" or "infecting" coronary arteries.
