general infection questions?

I'm trying to solve if I have an infection or not.
1. Is it possible to have an ENT type of infection that lasts several
months--almost six months?
2. Is it possible to have this infection without a fever? In fact, my
temp's been a steady 97.8 to low 98s.
3. Is it possible to have an infection of this type and still be a good
spirits except for what I'm feeling?
I was diagnosed as mild hypothyroid about two months ago. Doc
prescribed synthroid to fix it. Since then I felt a globus sensation
(lump in throat) and then esophegeal and throat mucus and irritation.
At first I thought it might be something like GERD so the doc gave me
Aciphex to try--nothing. It really feels like an infection but the fact
that I don't have a high temp throws me off.
I exercise regularly ( four times a week ) and I can stay on an
elliptical running machine for about 45 minutes without being out of
breath. Then I start resistance training. My diet is normal--I have a
healthy appetite.
Any ideas?
