I wonder about the immune system problems. As someone else pointed out,
this woman must have resulted from what would have been fraternal twins.
(Otherwise all of her DNA would have been the same.) But then why wouldn't
her immune system, I assume all from one twin or all from the other, have
mounted an attack on the tissue from the other twin?
They use blood for the inital DNA testing (the one that didn't match her
kids). All the white and red blood cells come from the same stem cells, so
you can be pretty sure that cells that make up her blood were different from
the ovary cells that made up her egg cells.
When the immune system is immature, the immune system becomes tolerant to
cells in the body, even if they are from someone else. This is why my white
blood cells don't attack my kidneys (at least I hope not). The immune system
would not attack cells present during development, like her twin's.
