And again, I'll add for the sake of adding an anecdote: I have heavy
proteinuria (currently 8 grams per day) and I do not have "foamy" urine.
In case I wasn't clear - my anecdote is not data! Just a report from
someone who sees nephrotic-level proteinuria everytime she takes a leak.
Anecdotes are all we have<g>.
My guess (without any scientific backing) is that foam in male's urine
has to do with the gradual breakdown of his genitals, particularly
seminal vesicles and the prostate, as he ages. He has difficulty with
the various sphincters and control of his prostate and probably has
leakage from the seminal vesicles into the prostatic urethra. The foam
is really the product of the fructose which is the main constituent of
seminal vesicle fluid.
