I have three cuts (actually probably more accurately puncture wounds)
right is a row. One in the bellybutton and one on each side. If I
understood the doc right, the bellybutton was to introduce the gas and
the other two were for the actual rooting around and the dirty work
(grin). The belly button is okay, the puncture on the left hurts a bunch
when I move around and the one on the right hurts, but much less. Can't
bend over yet for instance.
Sounds like he did that trans-peritoneally instead of in the pre-peritoneal
space, so reasons for the pain might be either a port site hernia, a port
site hematoma, or pain from the sutures used to close the muscle wall at the
port site. If you feel any lump at either of the two port sides on either
side, I'd go have it looked at. Otherwise, it's just taking an unusually
long time to heal. If it's still hurting that much 4 weeks out, that is
rather outside the norm.

Both sides have a bump, but they are both the same and only one side
really hurts. The bumps are more scar tissue than anything else. The
doc looked at it on the 14th, I don't see anything different in the way
they look or feel since then. The bruising at both port sites was
impressive for awhile, but that has resolved. Since the pain is pretty
much centered on the port site, I would bet that the sutures used to
close the wall are the culprits. Especially since it feels like
pulling.
I guess I'll call him anyway on Tuesday since I am getting ready to
leave town for awhile.
Thanks.
Kurt
