My 12-year old step daughter had surgery on an ingrowing toenail in July

The surgery seemed to work but after a couple of months the problem
returned.

My wife and I want to take her back to the hospital for a Doctor's opinion
but she seems to have become fixated on trying a product she found herself
online (it's my fault for teaching how to use google effectively)

So I have a simple question:

Is this snake-oil or is it likely to be worth a try?http://www.nailease.com/index.htm

It seems too good to be true to me ("In less than 10 minutes you can safely
and easily ...") but I just thought I'd ask the question here as I have no
medical knowledge myself.

Thanks for any replies.

How bad is her toe? If it is already infected then the Nailease will
do her no good.

It is possible that it will work, but it has to be on her toe nail as
it grows so that it will "guide" the toenail into a proper growing
path.

If it is bad enough where you believe you should take her to a doctor,
then take her to a doctor. Tell her after the doctor fixes it this
time that you will begin using the nailease on her toe, if possible of
course.

That should make it easier for you to get her to the doctor then you
can see if it will work for her in relative safety. You just need to
make sure you keep a good eye on her toe. Do not ask her how her toe
is doing, you need to look at it. Children have an amazing ability to
hide pain from thier parents when they believe it will get them out of
a doctors appointment.

It is possible that it may work for her, just as long as she knows
that if her toe gets infected she will need to go to the doctor.

Hope this helps...
