Lipoma vs. sebaceous cyst--telling them apart

I have a small firm lump just under the skin of my back--it's firm to the touch. I just saw a Nurse Practitioner and she said it could be a "lipoma." But I had another small firm lump under the skin that was exactly like that, 10 years ago, and that time the doctor diagnosed it as a "sebaceous cyst."

Are "lipoma" and "sebaceous cyst" the same thing? If not, what's the difference and how can you tell if a particular lump is a lipoma or if it is a sebaceous cyst?
