I was just wondering if anyone has data comparing the average IQ of
smokers with
that of non-smokers.
That data would be hard to acquire, since few people have their IQ
tested.
However, it's well known that smoking is inversely correlated with
years of education and also with annual income -- i.e. the more
years of education you have, the less likely you are to smoke.
Similarly, the higher your annual income, the less likely you are
to smoke.
You shouldn't have any difficulty in finding the statistics that
demonstrate the above.
While it's not a direct measure of intelligence, in our culture less
intelligent people are less likely to have many years of education or
to hold higher paying jobs.
(Note: Everybody knows exceptions to these patterns, but the
generalization holds.)
