During brain surgery, does a patient experience vivid recollections?

Hi, Ive heard that during brain surgery, if certain ares of the brain
are stimulated, the patient can experience vivid and detailed
recollections from the past. I want to look into it but cant find any
resources or article or websites, it this an urban legend ? Can
someone post link to a resource? thanks
