Auto-Immune Disease

Hi,

My nephew is 5 years old. He lives in Wisconsin. Since April, 2009, red spots (rashes) were noticed on his body. He lost his appetite and started losing his weight rapidly. He was taken to a Wisconsin hospital and then to a Chicago children hospital. In both the places, doctors did innumerous tests, all kind of biopsies. But they never gave any kind of treatment. Meanwhile, my nephew lost more weight, almost stopped eating, more rashes on his body.
Then he was taken to another hospital in Minnesota. There, the doctor diagnosed it as Dermatomyositis. And he prescribed Steroid to be given to him for 10 months.
Is there any treatment available for this disease? Is it curable?
Please reply as soon as possible.
