The setup I'd imagine is where a soldier can snap a photo of a
particular empty location, then park a vehicle in that same location,
and cover the vehicle with a shroud. An image is then projected on top
of the shroud to disguise the vehicle.
While this may sound unwieldy and ineffectual to avoid detection from
close-up, I would imagine it could be much more effective at hiding
vehicles and equipment from prying eyes of photoreconaissance, whether
satellite, aerial, or even just telescopic scopes.
I'm also wondering if this approach could be specifically adapted for
confusing thermal or infrared imaging, or even night-vision scopes.
