Well you can pick up a Blowpipe/Javelin and hit an airliner with the
first shot without more than a couple of goes on a trainer. In fact if
you are stood in the right place you might even manage it without even
any attempts on the trainer.
Hitting crossing fast-movers taking evasive action is a whole other
ballgame, but airliners are big, slow and fly in straight lines. Back in
the early 1990s I spent some time practising on some with a Javelin
launcher when training with a TA AD Battery. Not at all difficult.
