60mm mortars will continue to be vital to the infantry as the only truly man portable indirect fire system available. A major problem infantry regiments have is shortage of ammunition. A man has to carry it, so you have to hit the target on the first 3 shots. Guided rounds can.
Inside a big building artillery may not be able to get access to a fortified room. Ten stories above possibly but not the room itself. A mortar can be carried up the stairs.
