An error in estimating the average crosswind velocity along the path by 1 mph will give about 2 feet of horizontal error at 1500 yard for a 338 Lapua shooting low drag match bullets. Even chest shots at 1500 meters are luck except in a dead calm. At that rainge sniping is more correctly called harassing fire.
At least the 338 Laupa is still supersonic at that distance.
