Do you think, at 1500 metres, would a person survive a chest shot from a the Lapuda .338 round if he were wearing level 4 body armour?

Opinions or perhaps data anyone?

A Quickload simulation shows that shooting 300 grain Sierra Matchkings from a 30" barrel with 99 grains of ADR AR 2218 powder (<90% SAAMI) will give a muzzle velocity of 2828 FPS. That combination will give a velocity of at least 1231 fps at 1500 meters, still supersonic. Thats at sea level. It would be more at higher altitude. A 300 gn bullet at 1231 fps has 1010 ft-lbs of energy. That's similar energy to a 44 magnum revolver at close range or an AK-47 at 100 yards.

I would expect Level 4 armor to stop it without serious injury.
