It dose nothing to cool the rifle, and isn't meant to, the first problem you
get with an over heated rifle is ether extraction difficalties, though
modern cartredges have largely solved that one, or the round cooking off as
it sits in a hot chamber. Firing from an open bolt means there is no round
sitting in a hot chamber for however long untill the next shot, intended or
otherwise, this is pretty much standard for MG's and MP's. Given the G11
used a rotating action there isn't even alot of metal flying about to spoil
your aim.
