That's largely because Heim invented much of his mathematical terminology.
Chicken and egg situation. Few serious physicists will bother to take the time to 'translate' his work until... someone translates it and shows its worth looking at.
So the people espousing his work to the popular press aren't serious
physicists? Either there's something there and they can take the time
to explain it to their colleagues so it can be studied technically and
debated seriously, or there's not.
You'd think so with cold fusion as well...
