I think you're correct. One of the local book shops has a copy in and I
thumb through it occasionally. I think its either that book or Janes
Infantry Weapons that claims something like 1000 were made.

That's what I used to believe also, until I was corrected by someone in
a position to know. Apparently the '1,000 guns' figure was a mistake
originally made by someone, and it's been circulating ever since.

The figure of 100 actually seems much more likely given that I've seen no
indication that the G11 has seen any regular use. You'd think that if there
were 1000 of them floating around the German Army would be using them
someplace.
